So we went with our "family" to eat without a doubt the best breakfast we have ever had. They were "cochinita" sandwiches(baby pig) with the hottest hot sauce imaginable. We ate 3 each and could not feel our lips afterwards. Below is our "cochinita" cook....god bless him...we were the only gringas in there....and we somehow managed to eat more than any mexican man in there:) no shame after a hurricane.....
The airport in Merdida was a mess....1,000's of tourists sleeping on the sidewalks and lawns...we were told by the airlines that we could have left by November 2nd......i have never before felt so blessed to be able to leave somewhere....god bless family in times of need. We were in the air by noon on wednesday....

Vegetables tasted so good.......I will never eat an oreo or pringles again......we lived off of that the last 3 days....yuck....
We were flown into a town in Mexico called Toluca. My mexican famliy picked us up and we had a wonderful dinner with all of our cousins.....the next day we relaxed at their home and played with our little cousins.......

As I sit here in Vail I realize how blessed I am. My sister and I have been though a horrible break-in together in 1988, were in a tornado in Wyoming in 1991, the earthquake in Northridge in 1994-where we lost our home, we were in the largest storm in the century in southern Germany, and now we have experienced Hurricane Wilma together....guardian angels do exist by the way. what we learned is shown below....hang onto your family through life:)
be thankful for new friends in hard times........
and yes, it is possible to go to a beach resort in Mexico and to come back without a tan.......
and yes, I have promised Veronika she can book our trip next time:)
